Whether or not they are aware, individuals who suffer from snoring are not getting a good night's sleep. They may have headaches throughout the day, the inability to concentrate and just have an overall feeling of the blahs. Therefore, there has never been a better time to stop snoring than now.

There are a lot of remedies that promise to cure it, but how can anyone know what will help to keep their nighttime nuisance at bay? The most common reason that researchers believe snoring affects so many is because, when they sleep, their air passages become blocked. This can originate in either the throat or nasal passages and causes restrictive breathing, which leads to snoring. In some instances, snoring may only be a symptom of a more serious underlying problem. Sleep apnea is a serious medical condition that, if not treated, can cause a stroke, heart problems, circulation disorders and more.

If the person who suffers from snoring happens to sleep on their back, convince them to try sleeping on their side. This helps to prevent the fatty tissue or the uvula from resting in the back of the throat. If necessary, place a large body pillow against their back to prevent them from turning over on their back through the night.

If the snoring sufferer also has allergies, make sure that they are taking any prescribed allergy medications, using air filtration systems in their home and ridding each room from dust, pet hair or cigarette smoke. All of these things can aggravate the allergies, cause swelling in the throat or nasal passages and induce snoring.

Another common factor that leads to snoring is obesity. In addition to the obvious reasons of heart damage, back problems and overall health, being overweight is believed to be a leading cause of snoring and may be improved through the implementation of a healthy diet & exercise weight loss program.

The Sleep Genie, a revolutionary new product, allows sleepers to support their jaw during sleep. Experts believe that, if the individual who snores were to have a way to keep their mouth closed during the night, snoring would no longer be an issue. The Sleep Genie may be able to help even if surgery did not.

Many products promise to provide results but, when you are shopping for something that really works in terms of stop snoring aids, you want to make sure that you are getting the best value for your dollar.

The first thing to consider is safety. Will this anti-snoring device be safe to wear while you are asleep and less aware of your surroundings? Is it doctor recommended or approved? What company manufacturers the product and how much experience do they have? What are their qualifications? Always read the package carefully for any instructions and follow them without fail.

The next thing to consider is comfort. Is the product comfortable to wear and will it hinder your sleeping in any way? If so, it defeats the purpose of eliminating snoring if, in the process, you also eliminate your ability to sleep. Is the product something that will stay on during the night? These are all things to consider when shopping for effective stop snoring aids.

The last factor to consider when searching for stop snoring aids is the price tag. Not that you can put a price on comfort, but you do need to be able to afford the product. Most stop snoring aids are reasonably priced, so take careful consideration before purchasing something that may hurt the monthly budget.

Snoring can be difficult for both the sufferer and his/her family. Sleep disruptions are very common in a household where snoring is present and can often lead to headaches, an inability to concentrate and an overall feeling of exhaustion. That is the bad news, but the good news is that you can stop snoring. In fact, you can even stop snoring tonight.

After many failed attempts to stop snoring, many individuals turn toward their physician for help. In the most extreme cases, or when other attempts have proven unsuccessful, the snoring sufferer may be recommended for surgery. However, even if other attempts to stop snoring have failed, there may be ways to correct snoring problems before having to undergo invasive surgery.

There are a number of anti-snoring devices on the market, but how can one determine which ones help to stop snoring and which do not? The best sign to look for is a product that a doctor recommends directly or one that has been medically tested. One such product is known as the Sleep Genie, which is an anti-snoring device that supports the jaw comfortably while helping the mouth to remain closed during sleep. It is nearly impossible to snore with one's mouth closed, which is why the Sleep Genie typically provides results during its first use. The benefits of these types of anti-snoring aids is that they may help the snoring sufferer from having to take prescription medication, which can always lead to other health problems, or having to undergo surgery.

It is important to keep in mind that, while many patients undergo surgery with success, there are no guarantees that any type of surgical procedure will be effective. Rather than going through this type of a situation, many snoring sufferers are turning to anti-snoring devices, such as the Sleep Genie, to help them stop snoring. By eliminating snoring, they feel more rested throughout the day after a quality night's sleep, are able to concentrate better in everything that they do and are overall more pleasant to be around. The loss of sleep can affect every part of an individual's day and, if prolonged, can pose a danger while driving and during other everyday activities.

5 Tips To Help You Stop Snoring Tonight

Did you know that there are proven methods to help you stop snoring immediately? No more restless nights. No more arguments with your spouse or sleeping in separate rooms. Individuals who snore are all too familiar with these scenarios, but it doesn't have to continue.

Tip 1 Eliminate the presence of dust, pet hair and cigarette smoke from your home. These types of allergens make it difficult to breathe and especially bothersome for individuals who have been diagnosed with allergies. When breathing becomes difficult, air passages are restricted and this leads to snoring. Lying down at night can make these problems worse, so it's best to rid your home of allergens and always use air filtration units in every room of the home, especially in the bedroom.

Tip 2 Use an anti-snoring device, such as the Sleep Genie from Odyssey Direct Solutions, Inc. This product is doctor tested and approved. It is made of a nylon lycra blend so that it fits comfortable on the head and below the jaw. Comfortably supporting the jaw while keeping the mouth closed during sleep is it's primary goal. Individuals who sleep with their mouth closed do not have the ability to snore, which is why the Sleep Genie is a product that has former-snoring sufferers snoozing without a peep.

Tip 3 Sleep on your side instead of your back. Studies show that people who sleep on their back tend to be more likely to snore than those who are side or stomach sleepers.

Tip 4 If you suffer from allergies, sinus infections or have been diagnosed with a cold or the flu, try inhaling steam from hot running water before bedtime. This will help to open up the air passages naturally and allow you to breathe easier, which may reduce snoring

Tip 5 Try using two standard pillows instead of one. With your head elevated slightly, your air passages may not become as restricted. Often, passages become blocked when fatty tissue in the throat relaxes and makes it difficult to breath. Snoring is often the result, but having an extra pillow may help to curb the problem.

The Health Risks of Snoring

Everyone knows that snoring can be a night time nuisance, but did you know that there are several health risks associated with snoring? Snoring might be more than an annoyance that keeps your partner awake at night and it is important for you to learn how to recognize whether or not you have a serious health problem. Finally, in understanding both the reasons for snoring and what your snoring may mean, if anything, in terms of your health; you can take steps to make your home quieter and improve your health.

An astounding number of people snore; in fact, one out of every three individuals snores at some point during the time that they sleep. While you sleep, your throat tissues and the muscles in your mouth relax, including your soft palate and your tongue. Air moves past the relaxed muscles and tissue. Consequently, the relaxed tissue will vibrate each time you take a breath and will result in snoring. Finally, the less tense the tissue becomes, the louder one snores.

There are several reasons behind the occurrence of snoring. For example, individuals that possess an extended uvula frequently snore and obesity also plays a significant role in whether an individual snores or not. Further, some people have naturally larger tonsils and adenoids that can create an obstruction in their throat while they sleep. In addition, a deviated or crooked septum in one's nose, and minor illnesses that produce a significant amount of congestion may also be at the root of one's snoring. Plus, the use of alcohol can play a significant role in whether or not an individual snores.

Conversely, more serious health problems are associated with snoring. For instance, if an individual has sleep apnea they are more than likely to snore habitually. Sleep apnea is a rather serious problem as it creates an obstruction in the throat so great that it causes the sleeper to stop breathing for several seconds. By instinct, when the sleeper cannot breathe, they wake up to get the air they require, but such breaks in sleep can result in significant health problems.

What is crucial for people to remember is that snoring is not just a problem that is experienced by adults, therefore, parents need to be concerned about their child's well being if they habitually snore and it is loud and obnoxious or if it is creating a problem for the child. Is your child easily distracted in the classroom or at home? Losing sleep can be the cause. Does your child seem tired all the time? Again, interrupted sleep due to sleep apnea may be to blame. If you notice such signs, it is time to visit a paediatrician.

Finally, all individuals that habitually snore should consider paying a visit to their doctors because snoring, over time, could lead to other problems. Such problems include diabetes, increased blood pressure, heart trouble, stroke, and in some severe cases, death. Thus, if your partner complains about your snoring, perhaps you should consider visiting your doctor for a check-up. In the end, you'll be healthier and your partner will be happier!

Effective Snoring and Sleep Apnea Treatments

There is a substantial difference in snoring and sleep apnea but, ironically, the treatments are much the same. It is first important to differentiate the two terms.

Snoring is nothing more than a vibration caused from fatty tissue rubbing against the back of the throat during sleep. It is often the cause of sleep loss, aggravation and inconvenience. Snoring alone, however, is not as dangerous as sleep apnea, which occurs when an individual stops breathing completely throughout the night. This is usually caused by a complete airway blockage resulting from tissue in the throat relaxing and cutting off the air supply. The sleep apnea sufferer awakens quickly due to their loss of air, but they may not realize what has happened. Frequent awakening, difficulty breathing or gasping for air and heavy snoring are all common signs of sleep apnea and may require an immediate need for effective snoring and sleep apnea treatments.

There are a variety of snoring and sleep apnea treatments, including changing to sleeping on your side instead of your back, maintaining a healthy diet and exercise program, ridding your home of allergens to help you breathe easier during the night, elevating your head with an extra pillow at night or the use of doctor recommended apnea treatment devices. Once a patient has been diagnosed with sleep apnea, a more aggressive series of snoring and sleep apnea treatments may be required. If left untreated, sleep apnea can lead to heart disease, a stroke or other serious medical condition. Many apnea sufferers use a Continuous Positive Airway Pressure (CPAP) machine to help them receive a continual amount of air during the night, which helps to prevent the tissues in their throat from collapsing and blocking their airway causing them to stop breathing completely.

During snoring and sleep apnea treatments, sleepers need to sleep with their mouth closed or they risk losing the effects of the CPAP treatment. The Sleep Genie is a product that is designed to help improve sleep quality and allow the sleeper to rest comfortably with their mouth closed. While not intended to be used as a cure for sleep apnea, it may help to keep the sufferers mouth closed so that they can continue to receive the benefits of the CPAP machine. If the patient suffers from snoring, and not sleep apnea, the Sleep Genie is beneficial in helping to prevent snoring altogether because it is virtually impossible to snore with your mouth closed.

Excessive Snoring and What It Could Mean To You

It may be difficult to know whether you suffer from typical or excessive snoring. A large part of the problem comes from the fact that it can be difficult to diagnose your own snoring habits while you are asleep. Perhaps the most useful information would come from a spouse, who may be awoken through the night as a result of the snoring. He/she will be more familiar with your snoring and may be able to offer an opinion as to whether they notice excessive snoring.

So, just what is excessive snoring? Perhaps it could best be defined as repetitive, loud, disruptive and continual. Regular snoring is often the result of the airway passages becoming restricted through the night. This is generally caused by the fatty tissues relaxing in the back of the throat and causing a vibration, which is snoring. Excessive snoring, however, may be a sign of something much more serious. In fact, excessive snoring is a direct symptom of sleep apnea. Sufferers of this disorder actually stop breathing on more than one occasion during the night. This results from the airways becoming completely blocked and, if left untreated, sleep apnea may lead to heart disease, a stroke or other serious medical problem.

If you suffer from excessive snoring, it may be time to consider visiting the doctor for a proper diagnosis. If it is determined that you have sleep apnea, you may need treatment to prevent the disorder from causing further problems. If you simply suffer from excessive snoring, there may be various snoring remedies that can curb your nighttime nuisance. Among them, sleeping on your side instead of your back, ridding your home of allergens, losing weight if previously diagnosed with obesity, giving up cigarettes and alcohol, etc. In addition, some anti-snoring devices may be able to stop snoring immediately. One such device, known as the Sleep Genie, is doctor approved and comfortably supports the jaw while keeping the mouth closed during sleep. It is virtually impossible to snore with your mouth closed, which is why the Sleep Genie is popular among snoring sufferers. It is important to remember that the Sleep Genie is not intended to cure sleep apnea, but rather help to eliminate snoring and add better quality sleep.

This article is intended for informational purposes only. It should not be used as, or in place of, professional medical advice. Before beginning any treatment for snoring, please consult a doctor for a proper diagnosis and remedy.

One of the most effective ways to cure sleep apnea is through weight loss. Obesity is one of the leading causes of sleep apnea and, therefore, is a large part of it's cure. By beginning a well-balanced program consisting of diet and exercise, you will not only be helping to cure sleep apnea, but also taking a big step toward warding off future illnesses associated with obesity.

It is important to remember that only a physician can properly diagnose sleep apnea. This is confirmed through a series of questions and possibly a sleep study, which is when the patient spends the night at a sleep center where there breathing patterns are monitored. After every possible attempt to cure sleep apnea has proven unsuccessful, a physician may recommend surgery. Before electing for surgery, the patient should be aware of all risks associated with the procedure. At the same time, it is very important to cure sleep apnea or suffer the increased risks of heart disease, stroke and other serious illnesses. Many physicians will recommend use of a device called a Continuous Positive Airway Pressure (CPAP) device, which provides continual air pressure for the sufferer throughout the night. Some users of the CPAP machine find additional comfort with the Sleep Genie, which helps the mouth to remain closed and prevents the escape of the CPAP air treatments. While not intended as a cure for sleep apnea, the Sleep Genie often provides for better quality sleep to sufferers.

If you suffer from snoring, you are not only missing out on a quality night?s sleep, but your family?s rest may be disrupted as well. The question facing many sufferers is not what causes snoring so much but, rather, they want to know how to stop snoring completely.

There are a lot of ways that you can stop snoring. From the simplest ways to the more drastic approach, don?t give up hope on getting a good night?s sleep. If you have recently started snoring, try sleeping on your side instead of your back. Experts believe that individuals who sleep on their back suffer from having their air passages blocked when the fatty tissue rests in the back of their throat and causes snoring. If you worry about turning back over through the night, use a large body pillow and press it up against your back. If you try to roll over when sleeping on your side, the pillow will deter this movement and may help to curb that snoring problem. If you find that you are still struggling with the nighttime nuisance, visit your local retail store and check out the bedding section. Browse around and see if you can find a pillow that is specifically designed to help stop snoring.

If sleeping on your side or enlisting the help of a special pillow doesn?t provide any relief from snoring, consider the possibility that you may suffer from allergies. If you know this to be true, begin doing everything possible to rid your home or allergens, including dust, pet hair and cigarette smoke. In addition, you should probably use a quality air filtration device in every room and especially in the bedroom. You will need to change the filters regularly and will be surprised to see the dust that the filter will contain. Allergy sufferers and people with various sinus problems are more prone to snoring because the nasal passages in their throat and nose may become blocked very easily. This causes difficulty breathing, which may lead to snoring.

Individuals who suffer from obesity are also more likely to experience snoring. If you, or someone that you know, has been diagnosed with obesity, consider working with a physician to create a medically supervised diet and exercise program.

The Sleep Genie, a revolutionary new product, allows sleepers to support their jaw during sleep. Experts believe that, if the individual who snores were to have a way to keep their mouth closed during the night, snoring would no longer be an issue. That is where the Sleep Genie starts to work comfortably and eliminate snoring possibly as early as the first use.

Effective Home Remedies For Snoring

It begins at home and is only fitting that it is treated at home. There are a number of home remedies for snoring, which can allow you to take control of your nights and enjoy the quality of sleep that you deserve.

One of the most effective home remedies for snoring is to sleep on your side. If you always find yourself sleeping on your back, you may never guess that your sleeping position is directly linked to snoring. When you sleep on your back, the muscles and tissue are more likely to relax in the back of the throat, restrict your airway passage and cause snoring. In addition, sleeping on two pillows instead of one is among the popular home remedies for snoring. The additional elevation may help to keep your airways open.

If you suffer from allergies, try inhaling steam from hot running water before you go to bed. The heat may help to open up the nasal passages and improve breathing. The same is true if you are prone to sinus infections or have recently been diagnosed with a cold or the flu. One of the best home remedies for snoring is to simply improve the quality of air that you breathe. If your airways are restricted, snoring is much more likely. By ridding your home of allergens, you will increase air quality and enjoy the benefits of cleaner air. The presence of air filtration units in every room, especially the bedroom, is a good idea.

A majority of physicians will recommend trying a variety of home remedies for snoring before resorting to invasive surgery. After all avenues have been pursued without success, a doctor may consider a surgical procedure. In addition, if home remedies for snoring do not provide effective results, the sufferer may have sleep apnea. This is a serious condition which, if left untreated, may result in heart disease, an increased likelihood of a stroke or other medical problem. Sleep apnea occurs when the sufferer?s airway passages become completely blocked and they stop breathing completely on multiple occasions throughout the night. Home remedies for snoring are ideal if your snoring is just an inconvenience, but are not intended to cure sleep apnea.

Information On Snoring

It's causes are various as are it's effects. Sleepless nights, personality changes, lack of concentration and exhaustion are just a few of the results of snoring. Information on snoring is widely publicized, but it can be difficult to find all of the needed information in one article. This article is geared toward every aspect of information on snoring, including it's causes, remedies and potential problems.

There are several factors that are believed to contribute to snoring. For example, obesity is one of the leading causes and is, therefore, one of the cures. If you are overweight, or have recently been diagnosed with obesity, a well-balanced diet and exercise program may help you to stop snoring.

Many studies and information on snoring also suggest that individuals who regularly sleep on their back are more likely to snore than those who do not. By sleeping on your side, you will lessen the chances of having the muscles and tissues relax to the back of your throat and restrict air passages. This often leads to snoring, which is why sleeping on your side may help to correct the problem. If side sleeping just isn't possible, information on snoring also suggests that sleeping on two pillows instead of one may help to keep airways unrestricted and eliminate snoring.

The use of alcohol and cigarettes are also thought to increase the likelihood of snoring, which is one of the many reasons that snoring sufferers are urged to discontinue their use of these products. Cigarette smoke is just one of the allergens that may cause breathing problems. Information on snoring suggests that allergies may contribute to snoring, as well. When breathing becomes restricted, which is very often the case with allergies, sinuses or a cold, snoring may result. In an effort to avoid this, information on snoring suggests that ridding your home of allergens is a good idea. The use of air filtration units in every room, along with regular cleaning will help to eliminate pet hair, dust, cigarette smoke and other airborne allergens.

If you have tried every remedy possible, but you still require more information on snoring due to lack of results, consult a physician for the potential presence of sleep apnea. This disorder occurs when air passages are completely blocked and the sufferer actually stops breathing on multiple occasions during the night. Information on snoring suggests that pauses in breathing, excessive snoring and ineffective remedies are all symptoms of sleep apnea. This disorder must be treated effectively in order to avoid further complications, such as heart disease, a stroke or other serious medical condition.

This article is intended for informational purposes only. It should not be used as, or in place of, professional medical advice. Before beginning any treatment for snoring, please consult a doctor for a proper diagnosis and remedy.

Top 5 tips for an engaging and dynamic presentation that gets and keeps your audiences' attention

Imagine that you have spent the better part of two weeks working on an important speech you plan to give to your company. You think you have done everything right. You have created a PowerPoint presentation with tons of information and flash animation. You have created handouts of the slides for your audience, so they can follow along. Although you haven't had time to rehearse the presentation you are not worried, because you have the entire speech typed out. You plan to read it while you blow their socks off with the dynamic PowerPoint slides. Everything should be perfect, right? WRONG!!!

If you were to look at your audience (which you cannot, because you are reading your script) you would see them either riveted to the screen or to the handout in front of them, but not at you. The audience members who are eye weary from all the information you have packed into the slides are closing their eyes just to rest them. What went wrong?

Experienced speakers know that to engage their audience, they must build rapport. Reading from a script makes this difficult, if not impossible, because connecting with an audience requires direct eye contact. No matter how well written your speech, if you read your presentation to an audience, you will lose them.

Reading to your audience can also make you seem less authoritative. The audience wonders, "If you know so much about the topic, why can't you just talk about it? Why are you reading?"

Here are 5 tips for getting and keeping your audience's attention:

Make Eye Contact Free yourself from the written page and demonstrate your expertise by using one of these ideas: 1. Memorization If you want to memorize your speech, it is helpful to rehearse it out loud just before you go to sleep and right when you get up. 2. Outline If you use the outline method to create your script, you can simply go back and clean it up and use that for the presentation. If you don't have an outline prepared you can create one using the major points of your presentation. 3. Key word method This technique calls for you to select key words from your script that represent a paragraph or two of information. These key words should jog your memory so that you can speak extemporaneously. You can use a single page of key words, or place them on 3x5 cards (always number the cards). If you are a visually oriented person you can find an image that represents the key word and create a pictogram. 4. Teleprompter Nothing helps you maintain good eye contact without memorization like the teleprompter

When speaking to an audience, you want to make everyone in the audience feel that the message is being directed to them personally. If you find that actually looking into the eyes of your audience is difficult and distracting, look at the tops of their heads which will create the illusion that you are speaking directly to them.

In order to include the whole audience, use a "Z" pattern. Start by looking at the front left section of the audience. After finishing your thought, turn your gaze to the front right section. Again, finish your thought and direct your gaze to the center section. Then look at the rear left section and after completing your thought look to the rear right section.

Know your audience The more you know about your audience's wants, needs and level of understanding, the better able you are to craft a speech they will feel compelled to listen to. Too often speakers give the same presentation to different groups. "Generic" speeches tend to lose most of the audience. A speech needs to be relevant and specific.

You need to make sure that you are using words and ideas that are easily grasped by your audience. This doesn't mean you have to "dumb down" your speech, but it does mean checking to make sure that you are not using jargon or acronyms that are only known by a few.

Your audience is always thinking, "What's in this for me?" Keep this question in mind when you craft your speech.

Throw away your PowerPoint I think that there is no other element of a presentation that can bore an audience more quickly than PowerPoint slides. Okay, I know you are starting to curse at me now. Get rid of PowerPoint? Well, maybe I need to restate that. You can keep PowerPoint, if you use it properly and effectively and not as an eye sight test. Follow these simple rules:

1. Choose an easy font to read, such as Arial or Times Roman. 2. Font size should be at least 28 pt (bulleted items should be at least 22 pt). 3. Use colors carefully (reds and oranges are hard to focus on). 4. Don't crowd too many words on the screen (3 lines of type is more than enough). 5. Keep the slides simple, clean and easy to read. 6. View the PowerPoint presentation on the screen after you have created the slides and prior to your presentation. Check for ease of readability. The slides really do look different on the screen. 7. Don't read the slides verbatim. Quite frankly, most of your audience will be able to read the slide, so why repeat it?

I think the most powerful PowerPoints are those that use only pictures, a key word or phrase or graphics. There is no reason to simply use a slide to repeat what you have said. Instead, use a visual aid to reinforce your point. It is true that a picture is worth a thousand words.

You should direct your audiences attention to the screen and back to you. Simply turn your gaze to the screen for a moment or two and then look back to your audience. These subtle cues allow your audiences attention to move from the screen then back to you.

Give hand-outs after your presentation. If you are making a presentation that has a lot of important and/or technical information, you can provide a hand-out, but only AFTER the presentation. If people have your slides while you are speaking they tend to read ahead or stay glued to the hand-out and not to you. If you give them the hand out after your presentation, it will reinforce all of your material without stealing attention from you.

Rehearse I know people hate to rehearse. It is hard not to feel silly when practicing your speech. However, there is nothing that helps a speaker more than the familiarity and ease you get from saying the words out loud. (Yes, it does make a difference to say the words out loud.) I practice when I am in my car driving alone or while on the treadmill at home. The shower can also be a great place to practice.

Try these ideas with your next presentation. Even if you only use one or two of these tips, you will have taken a huge step toward being the speaker that your audience will be compelled to stay awake and listen to. No one will be snoring in the back row.

Snoring affects many people worldwide but, even more than wondering what causes this nighttime nuisance, it's victims want to know how make it stop. As a last resort, individuals may consider medical injections or surgery as a remedy. But, before taking these drastic steps, try these steps for a natural snoring solution.

Sleep On Your Side The next time that your spouse wakens you in the middle of the night and tells you to roll over because you are snoring, they may very well be on to something. Experts believe the sleeping on your side, as opposed to your back, lessens the airway restrictions caused by fatty tissue relaxing in the back of the throat. Side sleepers do not have these same problems during the night and, therefore, do not suffer from snoring as often. If you find it difficult to remain on your side throughout the night, fight the temptation to turn over on your back by placing a large body pillow against you. When and if you attempt to turn over, the pillow will provide a slight resistance and may prevent you from continuing.

Pillow Support There are specially designed pillows that promise to help reduce snoring. These items can be found in the bedding department of most retail or pharmacy stores. In addition, by elevating your head slightly with the use of two standard pillows, you may lessen the likelihood of restricting air passages and thereby eliminate snoring altogether.

Allergens Be Gone Allergy sufferers deal with stuffy noses, watery eyes, difficulty breathing and the general blahs, but did you know that they are also more prone to snoring? It is these very symptoms that induce the snoring in allergy and sinus sufferers. Because the nasal airways are easily restricted, tonsils frequently swollen, etc., many find that they also have to deal with snoring. It is a good idea to get rid of any/all allergens in the home, including dust, pet hair and/or cigarette smoke. In addition to regular cleaning, there are a variety of air filtration systems that can greatly reduce the allergens in the air. These systems should be placed in each room throughout the home and especially in the bedroom. If you are congested due to allergies, sinuses, cold or flu, try inhaling steam by running hot water into the sink. The warmth of the steam will help to open up air passages and relieve breathing.

Diet & Exercise If you believe that you are marginally overweight, or have been diagnosed with obesity, consider a medically supervised diet and exercise program. Excessive weight is believed to be among the common reasons for snoring and can often be remedied with a healthy weight loss program. In addition to snoring, obesity carries a variety of other health risks, including heart problems.

Natural Cures For Snoring

One of the most common sleeping distractions is snoring - either your own or that of your spouse. It is the reason that husbands and wives sometimes sleep separately, bicker with one another because they are sleep deprived and generally feel exhausted throughout the day due to a lack of sleep. That is the bad news. The good news, however, is that there are natural cures for snoring that can quickly rid you of this nighttime nuisance.

If you suffer from allergies or are congested from a cold or flu, try running hot water in the sink while inhaling the steam. This warmth will open up the nasal passages, allow for better breathing and help to prevent snoring. One of the leading causes of snoring is when air passages, either in the throat or nasal area, becomes restricted. In addition to inhaling steam, allergy and sinus sufferers should try and rid their home of any/all allergens. For example, avoid smoking cigarettes, breathing cigarette smoke, get rid of pet hair, dust, etc. Regular cleaning and the use of air filtration systems will help to accomplish cleaner air. You will be amazed at the dust that air filters will collect, so be sure to change the filter regularly in order to maintain clean air.

When you are ready to turn in for the night, try sleeping on your side instead of your back. If necessary, press a large body pillow against your back to prevent you from turning over in the night. If you try to roll over, the pillow will provide you with some resistance. In addition, there are pillows that are specifically designed to help control snoring. These can be found in the bedding section at almost any retail store. If you are unable to locate a specialty pillow, try elevating your head using two regular pillows. By raising your head slightly, you will be lessening the chance for the uvula, tongue and fatty tissues to relax in the back of your throat and restrict air passages. The better that you can breathe, the less likely you will be to snore.

If these remedies fail to provide relief, consider a lifestyle change. Obesity is a leading cause of snoring and can be best addressed with a combination of diet and exercise. A physician may be helpful in helping you to create a supervised plan. In addition to helping to prevent snoring, obesity can cause many other health problems and should be addressed quickly.

Experts believe that another reason snoring occurs is because the individual sleeps with his/her mouth open. Now, thanks to a revolutionary new product known as Sleep Genie, sufferers have a way to comfortably support their jaw during sleep and may even eliminate snoring during their first use. The best part is that this is a natural snoring remedy, which means it requires no medication, doctor visits or invasive surgery.

Snoring is a problem that affects many people around the globe, but it also has the ability to reach other members of the household. The spouse, the children or roommates. When someone snores, everyone is affected and not just those that sleep in the same room. Many people want to prevent snoring not only because of their lack of a restful night's sleep, but also for their own well being. Losing sleep can cause irritability, an inability to concentrate on everyday activities, weakness in the immune system and more.

That was the bad news. The good news is that snoring doesn't have to control your life. There are plenty of ways to prevent snoring, including sleeping in alternate positions, exercising more, eating properly, breathing cleaner air, etc. What do these things have to do with snoring? It's simple. They can, and often do, deter it.

When you first notice that you are snoring, whether you wake up yourself or your spouse tells you, try sleeping on your side. Individuals who sleep on their back are believed to snore more than those who are side sleepers. If the problem continues, consider the possibility that there is a deeper reason behind your snoring. Do you have allergies? Are you prone to sinus infections? Have you recently been diagnosed with a cold or the flu? If the answer to any of these questions is yes, then take steps to remove all allergens from your home. These may include pet hair, dust, cigarette smoke, etc. Snoring often occurs when the airway passages become blocked and that is exactly what happens when allergens are present. In addition to removing the obvious allergens, try getting rid of the ones that you cannot see. Using an air filtration unit will help to cleanse your air in a way that you could not regardless of how often you clean. Special filters are designed to remove airborne allergens and must be changed regularly in order to maintain better air quality.

In addition to these methods, you can prevent snoring with the use of anti-snoring devices, such as the Sleep Genie. This is a product that was developed by Odyssey Direct Solutions and fits comfortably around the head while supporting the jaw. It's blend of nylon and lycra give it flexibility, which provides for an undisturbed sleep. The Sleep Genie helps the mouth to remain closed, which helps to prevent snoring altogether. When used correctly, most snoring sufferers experience relief during their first use. To it's benefit, the Sleep Genie is doctor recommended and approved.

If you, or someone that you know, suffers from snoring, then you are probably looking for a way to cure it. While the actual causes of snoring vary from obesity, sleeping on the back, allergies and more, the majority of sufferers simply want to know how to correct the problem rather than what caused it.

Many anti-snoring devices are designed to help sufferers stop snoring and start resting.

Natural snoring remedies including sleeping on your side, ridding your home of allergens, losing weight if recommended, etc. If none of these remedies seem to work, many sufferers immediately turn to a variety of surgical procedures for their snoring solution.

However, these types of procedures are invasive, uncomfortable and may not be necessary in all cases. Before turning to surgery, consider the use of anti-snoring devices.

With the retail market being what it is, there are many anti-snoring devices that claim to solve this problem or cure that one but, when looking for legitimate anti-snoring devices, always look for something that has either been directly recommended by your doctor or is labeled as being doctor recommended.

This is very important in identifying the quality anti-snoring devices from the rest of the pack so to speak. One anti-snoring device, which is currently available, is known as the Sleep Genie. This product, as it is fittingly titled, typically works it?s magic during the first use.

The product provides a comfortable support for the jaw while allowing the mouth to remain closed through the night. Have you ever tried to snore with your mouth closed? Exactly. No luck, right? That is why the Sleep Genie has been identified as being doctor recommended. It provides a medicine-free, non surgical way to end snoring.

If the sufferer continues to have problems even after using quality anti-snoring devices, a physician may need to look for the possibility of sleep apnea. This is a very serious medical condition which, if left untreated, can lead to other health problems.

With sleep apnea, the snoring sufferer often stops breathing completely throughout the night and is therefore at risk for various health problems. A proper diagnosis for sleep apnea can only be made by a physician.

Stop Snoring Remedies

There are a variety of factors that cause an individual to begin snoring. No matter what the reason, sufferers around the world simply want to know about the best snoring remedies. Restless nights, frequent headaches, an angry spouse and the inability to concentrate are just a few of the results of snoring.

Stop suffering tonight and start sleeping better. Before electing to drastic surgical methods, try and resolve your snoring problems naturally.

One such method of treating snoring is achieved through the use of a new doctor recommended product, which is named the Sleep Genie. Fittingly titled, this revolutionary anti-snoring device comfortably supports the jaw while keeping the mouth closed during sleep.

One of the main causes of snoring is believed to be sleeping with your mouth open, which is rectified with the Sleep Genie. Often working in it?s very first use, the Sleep Genie requires no medication or invasive surgery.

If you tend to sleep on your back, stop now. Begin sleeping on your side and, if necessary, use a body pillow against your back to prevent you from turning back over through the night. Many back sleepers suffer from snoring because their airway becomes restricted when the uvula or fatty tissue in the throat relaxes and restricts the airway.

By sleeping on your side, this will not be as problematic and the vibrating sounds of snoring will not be created by anything rubbing inside the throat as you sleep. In addition to side sleeping, there are specialty pillows that claim to help curb snoring.

You may also try using several pillows and elevating your head slightly higher as this will help to keep the air passages more clear during sleep.

If neither of these methods appear to work, consider a lifestyle change. If you smoke cigarettes or live with your pet, it may be time to think about allergies. These and many other factors can lead to allergies, including dust.

There is no way to remove every dust particle in the home, but air purification systems will work wonders in helping to eliminate as much dust as possible. Allergy and sinus sufferers tend to experience more snoring problems due to nasal and throat airway restriction.

As the tonsils swell or your nose becomes congested, breathing becomes more difficult. Allergy sufferers, or during cold and flu season, individuals may find relief by inhaling steam before going to sleep. The warmth of the steam from hot running water will lessen congestion and allow the individual to breath easier.

Determining The Cause Of Snoring

Many things promise to cure it, but what exactly causes it? The cause of snoring varies from one individual to another, but there are several leading factors that are believed to behind this nighttime nuisance.

Obesity is believed to be a leading cause of snoring. Many physicians, therefore, recommend a program of diet and exercise in an effort to not only prevent snoring, but also to promote better health. If you have recently been diagnosed as being either overweight or obese, it may be time to consider a quality program to help shed some pounds along with your snoring habit.

Another main cause of snoring is when individuals sleep on their back. When this happens, the muscles and tissue tend to relax in the back of the throat and restrict air passages. By sleeping on your side, you may help to eliminate this problem and greatly reduce snoring.

The aging process is believed to be another cause of snoring. Researchers believe that, as the skin in the throat ages, it begins to lose it?s elasticity. When this happens, it is more likely to relax and cause air passages to be restricted.

Sleep apnea is a disorder that is also a serious cause of snoring. Symptoms include excessive snoring, pauses between breathing, awakening through the night with a feeling of choking or gasping for air, etc.

The reason this occurs is because, with sleep apnea, the airways become completely blocked and the sufferer actually stops breathing on multiple occasions throughout the night. Sleep apnea, if left untreated, may often lead to more serious medical conditions. Among them, heart problems, a stroke or other serious illness.

A sleep study, which is generally ordered by a physician, may help to diagnose the direct cause of snoring for each individual. The snoring sufferer spends one night at a sleep center, which monitors his/her breathing and snoring patterns throughout the night. The results are then studied by a physician who makes a final diagnosis.

Selecting The Right Treatment For Snoring

Snoring is a common occurrence, but it?s treatments are not as widely recognized. It can be difficult to know which treatment for snoring will actually work and which will not.

In determining which treatment to undergo, you may want to consider what is actually causing you to snore.

Obesity is one of the leading causes of snoring. Any individual who is overweight, or has been specifically diagnosed with obesity, is much more likely to snore.

If this is an example of your situation, the best treatment for snoring may be a well-balanced program consisting of diet and exercise. By losing weight, you may eliminate snoring while improving your overall health.

If you are someone who constantly sleeps on their back, your potential treatment for snoring may be to simply change your sleeping position. Instead of sleeping on your back, try sleeping on your side.

Researchers believe that side sleepers are much less likely to snore than individuals who sleep on their back. In addition, the use of two pillows instead of only one is a potential treatment for snoring. The additional elevation may help to keep your airways open, which will help to prevent snoring.

Most people unknowingly sleep with their mouth open, which makes it even more possible to snore. A doctor approved anti-snoring device, fittingly titled the Sleep Genie, is helping to make dreams comes true.

It?s nylon and lycra blend material combined with a sleek design adds to the wearer?s comfort and does not hinder movement during the night. While supporting the jaw and helping the wearer?s mouth to remain closed, the Sleep Genie typically helps to rid snoring during it?s first use.

If you suffer from allergies, are prone to sinus infections or have recently been diagnosed with a cold or the flu, eliminating allergens from your home may be both an effective treatment for snoring as well as for allergies. The use of air filtration units may help to eliminate airborne allergens, such as pet hair, cigarette smoke and dust.

How To Find The Best Cure For Snoring

Many sufferers would applaud knowing the best cure for snoring, but just what exactly works and what does not? Experts have varying opinions, but there is one thing that is for certain and that is that you cannot go wrong with a natural cure for snoring.

Among the newest anti-snoring aids that offer a natural snoring remedy is the Sleep Genie, which is often recommended by doctors. During sleep, this new product has been proven to support the jaw while keeping the mouth closed.

Open mouth sleeping is one of the leading causes for snoring, which is why this revolutionary new snoring device often works during the very first use. Could this be among the best cures for snoring? Perhaps the individuals who tried this product could chime in, but they are busy enjoying a restful night?s sleep at the moment.

Other cures for snoring are found when people simply decide to sleep on their side instead of their back. Individuals who regularly sleep on their back seem to be more prone to snoring when the fatty tissue in their mouth rests in the back of their throat, which restricts air passage. If it seems impossible to sleep on their side, individuals can rest a large body pillow up against their back to prevent them from turning over through the night.

Some anti-snoring devices, such as the Sleep Genie, allow you to sleep any way that you choose. If you choose to sleep on your back, but have nasal congestion caused by allergies, there are natural cures that may provide relief.

Before going to bed, run hot water in the sink and inhale the steam. The warmth will open up the nasal passages and allow for easier breathing through the nose. In addition, ridding your home of allergens, such as dust, pet hair and cigarette smoke will also help allergy sufferers to get a better snore-free night?s sleep.

The use of air filtration systems help to remove dust and other allergens from their air and should be placed in every room throughout the house, including the bedroom.

If the sufferer has been diagnosed as being overweight or obese, this may also be a cause for snoring. A medically supervised diet and exercise program may be the answer to losing weight and the nighttime nuisance of snoring. Not only is weight loss one of the best cures for snoring, but also one of the best for overall health.

If you have been looking for ways to stop snoring, but keep coming up short on results, don?t give up hope. There are actually many ways to stop snoring and some of them can even start working tonight.

One of the best ways to stop snoring is to change your sleeping position. If you constantly find yourself sleeping on your back, try resting on your side instead. Studies show that people who sleep on their back are more likely to snore than those who do not.

Another of the most effective ways to stop snoring is to elevate your head by several more inches with the use of a second pillow. If you currently only use one pillow, try using two instead.

Did you know that obesity plays an important role in everything that you do, including snoring? Not many people are aware of this, but being overweight is one of the leading causes of snoring.

Therefore, weight loss is also one of the best ways to stop snoring. A well-balanced program of diet and exercise may help you to shed some pounds and curb your snoring problem while also helping to deter future medical problems.

If you have allergies, consider the use of air filtration units to help rid your home of airborne allergens. In addition, removing dust, pet hair and cigarette smoke will help you to breathe cleaner air.

By doing so, allergy conditions may improve along with snoring. The reason is because snoring is often the result of restricted airways, which is made even worse with the presence of allergies.

If you want more definitive results, or are looking for additional ways to stop snoring, consider purchasing an anti-snoring device.

One such product, fittingly titled the Sleep Genie, usually works it magic on the first night. It?s sleek nylon lycra blend design comfortably supports the jaw while keeping the mouth closed.

Have you ever tried to snore with your mouth closed? Exactly! It isn?t possible, which is why the Sleep Genie is one of the ways to stop snoring and start regaining comfort through the night.

Certain anti-snoring devices may help to eliminate snoring even if surgery proved unsuccessful. As with any type of surgery, results are not guaranteed.

The Sleep Genie, for instance, is a product developed by Odyssey Direct Solutions and has been doctor recommended and approved. This product may be able to help even if snoring surgery did not.

Surgery snoring procedures may include a variety of techniques, including injections, the removal of tonsils or a complete reconstruction of the jaw area. Typically, surgery is a last resort only after every possibility has been tried without success.

Even doctors will tell you that surgery should only be considered after every other alternative has been exhausted. The reason is because surgery snoring procedures are expensive, painful and cannot guarantee results.

Physicians agree that, with any surgery, there is always the possibility of unexpected complications. For these reasons, many patients are looking for alternative remedies before considering a surgery snoring procedure.

Effective anti-snoring aids, such as the Sleep Genie, may be one such alternative. This device, which is manufactured using a nylon lycra blend, is comfortable to wear and slim in it?s design.

Fitting on the head and below the jaw, the Sleep Genie comfortably supports the jaw while keeping the mouth closed. Researchers believe that one of the most common reasons that people snore is because they sleep with their mouth open. The Sleep Genie helps to correct that problem without disrupting sleep.

In addition, you may lessen your chance of needing a surgery snoring procedure by attempting to eliminate snoring on your own.

For example, sleeping on your side instead of your back, ridding your home of allergens, using air filtration units in every room and maintaining a well-balanced program of diet and exercise can all help to eliminate snoring and the need for a surgery snoring procedure.

When you finally say goodbye to snoring, your days will be happier and you will find it much easier to concentrate on everyday activities. In addition to feeling better emotionally, a quality night?s sleep will help to maintain a healthy immune system.

Whether or not the sufferer realizes it, snoring affects every part of their life and it all starts with a good night?s sleep.

How to Prevent Snoring Quickly and Easily!

Many sufferers are drawn to expensive products that promise results, but never actually materialize. After several attempts at snoring prevention fails, many believe that they simply have to get used to it.

The good news is that there are effective steps toward snoring prevention that can actually help you sleep better tonight.

One of the first steps in snoring prevention is to consider your environment. If you have allergies, have you done all that you can to rid your home of airborne allergens?

These may include, but are not limited to, dust, pet hair and cigarette smoke. In addition to regular cleaning, the use of air filtration units in every room may help to reduce airborne allergens that could otherwise never be removed.

Your next step to successful snoring prevention occurs when you are ready to turn in for the night. Do you tend to fall asleep lying on your back? If so, this could be a large contributing factor to your snoring. In fact, researchers believe that individuals who sleep on their back are more likely to snore than those who sleep on their side.

So, when you go to bed tonight, try falling asleep on your side. Another great method of snoring prevention entails the use of an extra pillow. If you currently use only one pillow, try using two instead. By elevating your head even a few additional inches, you may lessen the likelihood of snoring.

The reason is because the muscles and fatty tissue in the throat often relax and restrict the airways passages during sleep. If your head is slightly elevated, there may be a lesser chance of this occurring.

A well-balanced diet and exercise program is not only a good step to snoring prevention, but is also a terrific way to improve overall health.

Obesity is one of the leading causes of snoring, which is why weight loss is often recommended if the sufferer is overweight or recently diagnosed with obesity.

If chosen correctly, anti-snoring devices can also be a very effective method of snoring prevention. For example, the Sleep Genie is a doctor recommended device that comfortably supports the sufferers jaw while keeping their mouth securely closed during the night.

It's nylon and lycra combination lends to the Sleep Genie's comfort while it's sleek design enables the wearer to move around without difficulty.

If you have ever tried to snore with your mouth closed, then you will understand just why the Sleep Genie often works magic during the first use.

Finding The Best Stop Snoring Solutions

Everyone wants to know how to find the best stop snoring solutions. Rather than using the trial and error method, which can be both frustrating and very expensive, there are several proven ways that are known to treat or even cure snoring altogether.

If at all possible, it is a good idea to find natural stop snoring solutions as opposed to having to resort to surgery.

There is a very powerful, and proven, natural method to stop snoring. It does not include medicine, doctor visits or invasive surgery. It is, however, doctor recommended.

It offers the sleeper a way to support their jaw comfortably while allowing their mouth to remain closed. Open mouth sleeping is one of the leading causes of snoring, which can be eliminated during the first night of using this product.

Many snoring sufferers find the treatment of allergies to be one of the stop snoring solutions. It is a proven fact that allergies, sinus infections and a cold or the flu may cause various breathing difficulties.

As the nasal passages restrict breathing in the nighttime, snoring often results. In order to minimize the inconvenience naturally while reopening air passages, many individuals find that breathing steam from hot running water helps to ease their breathing.

This is especially helpful if done just before bedtime. In addition, always make sure to have air filtration systems in every room of the home and especially in the bedroom. These units remove an amazing amount of dust and other allergens in the air and will continue to do so as long as the filters are regularly changed.

One of the best ways to treat allergies and other sinus infections is to remove as many allergens from the home as possible, including pet hair, cigarette smoke and dust. By easing allergies, the individual is able to breathe better, the nasal passages become less restricted and snoring is not as problematic.

Another of the top snoring solutions is to simply try sleeping on your side as opposed to your back. Individuals who sleep on their back are more susceptible to snoring because the fatty tissue relaxes against the back of their throat and, again, restricts air intake.

It may be easy to fall asleep on your side, but what if you turn over in the night? If this is a concern, simply place a large body pillow next to you so that you will not easily be able to return to sleeping on your back.

In addition, you may also try a special pillow designed to stop snoring or elevate your head slightly with the use of two standard pillows. This may help breathing and prevent air blockage.

As strange as it may seem, weight loss is among the stop snoring solutions. What does weight have to do with snoring? You may be surprised to learn that individuals who are overweight or have been diagnosed with obesity are more likely to snore. A medically supervised diet and exercise program may be among the stop snoring solutions, but it is also a good idea for overall health.

Treatments To Stop Snoring Now

Even though a bad snorer may sound like a motorboat speeding over the waves, the truth is that snoring is caused by obstructed breathing, and obstruction can lead to serious problems. Snoring disturbs sleeping patterns and deprives the snorer of much needed rest. When snoring is severe, it can cause serious, long-term health problems, including obstructive sleep apnea not to mention disturbing the peace and quiet in the bedroom. Simple changes, such as losing weight or sleeping on your side, can help as well as more drastic measures such as surgery. The following is a list of some of the best treatments to help with snoring problems.

Surgery is often used for treating snoring caused by obstructive sleep apnea. Different types of TAP (Thermal Ablation Palatoplasty) include bipolar cautery, laser, and radiofrequency.

? Uvulopalatopharyngoplasty (UPPP) tightens flabby tissues in the throat and palate, and widens air passages.

? Laser Assisted Uvula Palatoplasty (LAUP) treats snoring and mild obstructive sleep apnea by removing the obstruction in the airway. A laser is used to vaporize the uvula and a specified portion of the palate. Removing excess tissue enlarges your airway and reduces vibration.

? Radiofrequency-assisted uvulopalatoplasty or RAUP. Instead of a laser, thermal energy is used under local anesthesia to scar and shrink the soft tissue in the back of the throat.

? Genioglossus and hyod advancement is a surgical procedure that prevents collapse of the lower throat and pulls the tongue muscles forward, thereby opening the obstructed airway.

? Tonsillectomy and adenoidectomy treats snoring caused by problems with tonsils and adenoids. Often found in children.

If surgery is too risky or unwanted here are some non surgical ways to treat snoring:

? Use a nasal mask that delivers air pressure into the throat called a continuous positive airway pressure or "CPAP". The mask is attached to a small pump that forces air through your airway to keep it from collapsing. CPAP eliminates snoring but many people find it cumbersome and uncomfortable.

? Change your sleep posture. Snoring is especially loud when you sleep on your back. Various pillows and strap-on devices will force you to sleep in the right position.

? Throat sprays coat the soft tissues of the throat with lubricating oils, allowing the air to move more freely and lessening the noisy vibration.

? Open up nasal passages with the following items including adhesive strips which hold open the airways of your nose, plastic devices to hold open your nostrils, and nasal sprays which reduce congestion or the swelling of nasal tissues. These methods will enhance your breathing.

? Mouthpiece devices are available often custom-fitted by your dentist which pulls the lower jaw and tongue forward, making more room at the back of the throat.

Oftentimes snoring can be helped with lifestyle changes but if you have concerns about snoring you should contact your doctor or dentist for a complete evaluation to discuss the snoring treatments available and to decide which might be the best methods to stop your snoring now.

Snoring is a problem that affects numerous people all over the globe each night. It's so serious in some cases that it can ultimately lead to the end of a relationship. Sleep is a vital component in living a healthy and stress-free life and if your sleep is being disturbed by your own snoring or the snoring problem of a partner, it might be time to take some action.

There are numerous treatments available for those who snore including medication, tricks to keep you sleeping in a certain position or in extreme cases surgery. The solution to stop snoring might not be something that requires more than a few moments of physical activity each day. Exercise might be the answer to the snoring question.

One of the common causes of snoring seems to be excess body weight. Using exercise as part of a program to lose weight can also have the added benefit of stopping your snoring. This is by far the most natural way to quiet those nightly demons.

The exercise need not be strenuous. Even something as simple as walking each day can have an enormous impact on the person snoring. Their bodies become toned and at the same time the extra weight that they have been carrying around their throats melts away and over time the snoring quiets and eventually may disappear all together.

Swimming, hiking or riding a bicycle are all excellent methods of exercising the body. If done outside they add the extra benefit of getting the individual breathing fresh air and enjoying the elements. It can be refreshing for someone who often suffers from a fitful sleep because of snoring.

It's important to choose an activity that is appealing to you. It's also important to recognize that while exercising might not be your first choice of activity it can be vitally important to a healthy and balanced life particularly in the case of someone who snores. Snoring has many side effects including loss of sleep, loss of energy, less productivity at work and less motivation to do things. This can change a person's life; often in a very negative way.

For people who snore that are single, often the reason that they haven't pursued a committed relationship is because they are embarrassed by their snoring. This can lead to a sense of depression and self-doubt which in some people leads to the urge to overeat. They are jumping into a bitter cycle, gaining weight because they are eating to forget the snoring problem. Yet the increased eating leads to more weight which contributes to the snoring.

If you are married or partners with a snorer, it's beneficial to encourage them to exercise this is especially true if they are significantly overweight. People who are obese often suffer from a condition that can result in their breathing stopping while they are asleep. It is called sleep apnea and one of the symptoms of the condition is snoring. This is a serious medical condition and it can be treated by simply losing weight.

Stopping snoring by losing weight is a wonderful way to take care of not only your sleep problems but your entire body.

Snoring and You

It's midnight. You're being kept awake by a loved one's snoring. Do you ever worry about their health? Everyone knows that snoring is a nuisance at night, but did you know that there are health risks associated with it?

Snoring is much more than an annoyance that keeps people awake at night. It is important for you (or the loved one) to learn to recognize whether or not there is a serious problem behind the snoring.

In understanding the reasons for the snoring and what it may or may not represent, you can take steps to improve your health, not to mention give everyone in the house a peaceful night's sleep.

The number of people that actually snore is astounding. It is said that one out of every three people in the world actually snore during some point in the night.

How does snoring work, exactly? As you sleep, your throat and the muscles in your mouth relax. This includes your soft palate and the tongue. As air moves past this relaxed tissue, the tissue will vibrate with each breath. This results in snoring. The less tense the tissue actually becomes, the louder a person snores.

Snoring can occur due to many different causes. Those with an extended uvula or naturally larger tonsils and adenoids are likely to snore. A deviated or crooked septum in the nose, minor illnesses that cause congestion, even obesity and the use of alcohol can play significant rolls in whether or not a person will snore.

While these all sound like serious dilemmas, there are more serious health problems associated with snoring. Sleep apnea is likely to create an individual that snores habitually. Sleep apnea creates an obstruction in the throat that is so great, it actually causes the sleeper to stop breathing. On instinct, when someone cannot breathe during sleep, they wake up to get the air they require. These breaks in sleep can lead to a significant health problem.

And snoring is not just a problem for adults. Children snore as well, which means that parents should be concerned about the well-being of their child if he or she habitually snores. If your child is easily distracted or seems tired all the time, sleep apnea may be a factor. Checking with your child's physician is crucial.

Individuals who snore habitually should see their physician, as their doctor can help them find solutions to this noisy problem. Over time, snoring can lead to other diseases, such as diabetes, increased blood pressure, heart trouble, and in the most severe of cases, death.

If you or a loved one snore, a trip to the doctor may be very necessary. You'll be healthier and the entire family will thank you for the peace and quiet they get throughout the night.

Snoring- a Small Change Can Make a Big Difference

 by: Kevin Meates

We all know how annoying snoring can be, both for the snorer and the partner. The effects and seriousness of snoring are becoming more apparent with snoring being linked to conditions like high blood pressure and coronary disease. The different types of snoring, range from a simple puff to a full on roar and there isnt one school of thought on the reasons behind snoring. Snoring, I believe, is a signal that the bodys systems are out of balance. Finding which system is the difficult part. But correcting the balance may not take a huge change, take the example of Andy.

Andy was in his late 30s and had snored for several years. Hes not quite sure when it started but of late the snoring had being a more regular event. He probably still wouldnt be aware of it, except it drove his wife crazy. Andy had always being active, not a football star but he liked to throw a ball around. If you asked a passerby, they wouldnt describe Andy as overweight but Andy freely admits putting on a pound a year over the past 10 years and plans to start shedding some of it sometime soon.

Every year Andy and the family, his wife and two sons go camping. They always go to the same camping ground every year and always get the same site, or there about, near the water and away from the highway. Andy doesnt believe a holiday should be hard work and the family doesnt lack for comfort with inflatable mattresses, electric cooler, color TV (just for the news) and a large three room tent. Now last year the shower block at Andys end of the camp ground was under going a major renovation for the two weeks of Andys holiday. It wasnt a major problem; it just meant that Andy had his nightly shower at the other shower block. But because Andy and his wife preferred that the boys didnt have to walk in the dark they showered a couple hours earlier than normal.

After a couple of days after arriving Andys wife Karen noted that Andy wasnt snoring nearly as badly as he normally did. On past holidays even the boys would mention how annoying dads snoring was. They too had noticed a more quiet night. Andy was pleased as he too had noticed that he awoke more refreshed in the morning and his mouth didnt feel like someone had left sandpaper in it. He didnt know what change he had made that brought this unexpected and pleasant result, but he suspected it had to do with his nightly routine, as this was the only thing that had changed.

Over the next two weeks Andy experimented with his routine and finally came to the conclusion that if he brushed his teeth several hours before going to bed rather than just before retiring he didnt snore so much, if at all, and he woke in the morning without his mouth feeling all dry.

That simple change has made a big difference to Andy and Karen. Andy deduced that when he brushed his teeth just before retiring, the toothpaste was making him a little dehydrated. It was enough to dry out the nasal passages and cause him to breathe through his mouth making the snoring noise. By brushing earlier he didnt suffer the same dehydration and was able to breathe through his nose the whole night through. Now Andy also realized that toothpaste alone shouldnt be able to have such a major effect. It was that his body was very near the balance point and the toothpaste was the final small push over the edge. Andy decided he was to close to that fine balance point and began to look at his whole diet. He has made some small adjustments to his diet. He has lost a little weight, but thats a bonus and he only now snores if he over indulges and thats usually when he catches up with college buddies twice a year.

The chance of eliminating your snoring by changing when you brush your teeth is probably less than one in a thousand. Andys problem probably is your problem. The key is to find the system that is out of balance and work to set it right. You never know, you may only need the smallest of change. Is it worth the effort? You decide.
