Ba Zi can be literal translate as 'Eight Characters'. Basically, Ba Zi is derived from birth date: the year, month, day and time you were born. Each consists of a distinct pair of characters, hence making up the eight characters. From these eight characters, thousands of combination is possible. Ba Zi is derived from four pair of character, thus, sometime people refer to it as the Four Pillars or Si Zhu as well.

To the Chinese, a period of sixty year is known as one Jia Zi. In ancient China, from experience and by observing the nature, the Chinese discovered a phenomenon. A cycle of climatic or chronology event seem to repeat every sixty year. Meaning if year 2000 is a full of rainfall, the climate for 2060 would be similar. With this knowledge, prevention can be make. Especially, since the weather has an impact on the agriculture, economy and health.

The eight characters are make up of Yin and Yang variation of the Five Elements: Yang Wood, Yin Wood, Yang Fire, Yin Fire, Yang Earth, Yin Earth, Yang Metal, Yin Metal, Yang Water and Yin Water. By analyzing the combination of these eight characters, the personality, destiny of a person can be determine.

With a deeper understanding of ones own personality, you can open up potential and maximize growth. Have better emotional control and decision making. With the knowledge of upcoming influence forces, you are more ready to react and bring out the best performance and avoid unnecessary set back. Knowing your destiny does not mean "That is it. I am fate to be..." This knowledge should be view as a guidance, a map, a motivation booster.

Destiny can be change. But you have to put in a lot of hard work, a lot of perseverance, a lot of determination. There is no free lunch. For example, you have a Ba Zi which indicates that you will be rich. Each day passes by, you dream about what you are going to do when you are rich. You dream about how you are going to spend the money. BUT, you do nothing to make your dream come true. You say to yourself "I am fated to be rich one day... it does not matter if I work hard or not ..." Soon, one day, when your are too old and weak, you will find that you are not rich at all, instead, you are in debt, facing bankruptcy!

What does Ba Zi got to do with Feng Shui? You might ask? Think of Ba Zi as a map, with road sign and indicators to guide you along your life path. Feng Shui becomes the tool that would help you to overcome any obstacle and let you have a smooth journey. For example, if your Ba Zi indicates that you are a hot-tempered person and you find that your relationship with others is not too good. You are constantly angry and it seems like everybody come looking for a fight. The Feng Shui consultant would analysis your Ba Zi and might advice you to wear a sapphire ring, for example. Slowly you would find that there is a change to your life. You find that you have lesser argument with the people around you. You feel good. You can focus on your personal growth. You can do the things that truly resonate with your heart.

Getting Used to the Bulk - Anti Snoring Appliance

Do you know of someone who's cured his snoring? It's a reality. Forty-five percent of the world's population snore and recent studies have associated snoring with high blood pressure, hypertension, cardiovascular diseases, and stroke. Snoring in pregnant woman has also been known to adversely affect the growth of the unborn child. Little children who snore likeswise are noted to have lower learning abilities and poor mental health.

So snoring is this destructive? It actually depends. Snoring can be classified as mild snoring to habitual snoring. However, habitual snoring may already be a symptom of a dreaded condition called sleep apnea. In this condition, a person actually stops breathing for about 10 seconds and some as long as 30 seconds occurring several times a night. Person with the sleep apnea disorder tend to be less productive during the day and irritable. Snoring today is not only a physical problem, it's anti-social as well. The best thing to do before anything could get worse is to: cure snoring at once.

If the homeopathic tips did not prove useful for you, it might be time to try some anti snoring appliance. There are many available products of anti snoring appliance. Let's tackle some just for the point of discussion and not as to recommend.

Basically, the narrowing of the airway due to the relaxation of the neck muscles when a person sleeps at night causes snoring. The soft tissues that flap when air passes through creating the vibratory sound called snoring. An anti snoring appliance generally has a dental overlay portion and a guide ramp portion that fits on the lower jaw and guides it to move forward to prevent snoring.

Makers of the "Negus" anti snoring appliance claim this product has been well researched. This anti snoring appliance is worn in the mouth of a snorer at night to eliminate or lessen snoring. The "Negus" pushes the tongue forward away from the back of the throat so that the airway is made larger.

Another anti snoring appliance is the "Silensor". This device still uses the same principle of pushing the lower jaw forward to provide a bigger opening of the pharyngeal space. This anti snoring appliance consists of an upper and lower forming worn over the respective tooth arches. The two lateral rotating connectors connecting the formings gently pull the lower jaw forward increasing the opening during sleep.

Same principle is used by the manufacturer of the anti snoring appliance called "Noiselezz". This anti snoring appliance is still made of two components that are fit to the upper and lower jaw. The Noiselezz keeps the airway unblocked by slightly pulling the mandible (lower jaw) forward to create enough space.

Snoring could be more than just a nuisance to the person sleeping beside the snorer. It could complicate to more serious health problems. Prior to wearing any other anti snoring appliance, you'd be better off paying a visit to your physician first.

Little Noisy Breathers - Baby Snoring

If you're a parent of a noisy newborn, it's really nothing that should cause any alarm. Like most parts of their bodies, which are still immature, babies are noisy breathers in general because their nasal passages are still narrow and usual are filled with bubbly secretions. When air passes through these puddles of secretions, a vibratory sound is produced ? making us think our baby is "snoring". Baby snoring is basically just a sound produced by the soft tissues as air passes in. As the baby grows older, as well as his nasal passages, and as he learns to swallow excess saliva these vibratory sounds or baby snoring should subside.

Some ways to get home relief for these little snores is to clear the baby's air passages. If you think the baby's nose seems partly obstructed, spurt a few drops (be careful not to drown your baby) of saltwater in you baby's nose. Some drugstores recommend saline nose sprays but you can make your home-made version by diluting ? teaspoon of salt to 8 ounces of clean or pre-boiled water. Use a nasal aspirator (available in drugstores and baby's sections) to gently suck out the secretions out of your baby's nose.

Another home remedy for baby snoring is to clean nasal passages using steam. Do this in the evening, before bedtime usually occurs during this time. Give your baby a warm shower (or you can stand with you baby) to loosen excess secretions. Another thing to avoid baby snoring is to clear your baby's room of allergens like dust collectors or animal dander. These allergens cause the excess production of mucus as the body's natural defenses to clean the air entering the body.

In instances, though, when baby snoring still persists, as your baby grows older, it's best to pay a visit to your pediatrician. Some infant snoring is caused by an abnormal structure in his nasal passages. Enlarged tonsils are also cause of snoring in older children but rarely does this happen to infants. Enlarged tonsils may be corrected by a simple outpatient operation. Pediatricians may also check for cysts or if there are no abnormal movements in your baby's palate.

One more cause for baby snoring is laryngomalacia. Laryngomalacia is a condition in which your baby's cartilage, that opens as air passes in, has not fully matured yet but this should subside by the sixth month.

Baby's weight may also contribute to baby snoring. Frequent baby snoring may already be a sign of sleep apnea. If your baby has this condition, his breathing may stop for about 10 seconds (due to the obstruction in the nasal passages). Baby's and toddlers experiencing sleep apnea tend to be sleepy and tired during the day.

Why Does my Toddler Snore? Snoring in Toddlers

It might be typical for little babies to snore because secretions in their throat often clog their tiny, immature air passages causing the vibratory sound. As babies grow older and as their air passages matures and widens, however, this vibratory sound should subside by the sixth month. Snoring in toddlers on the other hand may be normal when your toddler has bouts of colds, flu, or allergy. This is occasional snoring. If the snoring in toddlers becomes more frequent during their sleep, it could be a symptom of sleep apnea.

Sleep apnea is a serious sleep disorder caused by enlarged adenoids (the glands in the throat on the roof of the palate) blocking the air passage and affects 500,000 children in the United States annually. This gives difficulty for your toddler in breathing during their sleep at night. Sleep apnea is characterized as a pause in breathing for about 10 seconds during sleep. Some toddlers in this condition tend to awaken several times in the middle of the night. Sleep apnea results in daytime lack of energy in toddlers when they're supposed to be active, crankiness and irritability, and lead to behavior problems.

Long-term effects of inadequate sleep in toddlers are poor memory retention and poor mental health leading to learning problems when they enter pre-school. Experts advice that the period between 3 to 6 years old is the peak when snoring becomes harmful to a child's development. It is also at this stage when treating snoring makes a huge difference in their behavior and learning.

Once you hear snoring in toddlers and suspect that he/she has sleep apnea, a visit to the doctor must be heeded. Doctors would generally evaluate the size of the adenoids and other peculiarities in the throat. An outpatient operation might be required (such as removing the enlarged tonsils) to correct this and lessen the occurrence of snoring in toddlers and sleep apnea.

Home remedy for snoring in toddlers (including sleep apnea) is shifting them to another sleeping position. Studies concluded that snoring toddlers could breathe better when they're made to lie on their side or stomach. Special pillows (available in the market) may also alleviate the condition of snoring in toddlers and sleep apnea.

In general, any child who snores is not getting enough sleep and sleep is essential for optimum physical, mental and emotional growth especially during the development stage. Your primary reaction once you hear snoring in toddlers should be never to neglect it. It could just be mild snoring (which can easily be corrected) or it could already be sleep apnea. So seek medical advice today.

Infant Snoring: Blame It On The Parents

If one might have not noticed, infants do snore. Did you witness your infant snoring? And you ask who are to blame? Look in the other rooms of the house. Then see who also snores in their sleep. Surely, you?ll find at least one who snores. Oh, it?s not your wife? And don?t even try to think that your infant got it from your household helper either. Oh yes, you?ve got it right ? it could only be you.

Studies show that infant snoring can be traced to their parents. With at least one parent who snores, the child will most probably grow a snorer as well. Especially so if your child is diagnosed with atopy, you have most likely in your possession, a baby who will follow the steps of a snoring parent. Atopy means having a hereditary inclination towards developing reactions as asthma, hay fever and other allergies.

It is worthwhile to note that snoring is caused by an obstruction to the nasal airways of the person. With a child diagnosed with atopy, the child?s nasal airways is most likely to be congested causing breathing problems especially while sleeping.

If you find your infant snoring, go to your family doctor for help. Your doctor can refer you to the right specialist for the job. Your child might have sleep apnea, and if the medical specialist requires it, your child?s tonsils or adenoids may have to be removed. These tonsils and adenoids work to combat bacteria, and would usually get enlarged in the process of doing so. Another would be perhaps your child is overweight for his size and age, and some revisions of his diet may be in order. This should be done with the advice and guidance of your child?s doctor.

One way to remedy infant snoring, especially if this is caused by allergies is by using an air purifier and keeping the area clean so that no foreign substance will cause infection on the infant?s airways. Always keep the baby?s bed, pillow, blankets, and etc. clean and free of dust.

The best way should be to consult a physician for the specific needs of your baby. Be reminded that your child is yet very young and is in a critical stage. Proper treatment at the earliest possible time would do your baby good. Don?t be complacent and make sure you put your child?s health in the best hands. Never take any signs for granted. With infant snoring, the earlier the treatment, the better. You owe it to your child. After all, your infant got it from you, right?

Non-surgical Ways to Prevent Snoring

If you are troubled with your snoring problem, and don?t want a surgical procedure to remedy it, you can make use of non-surgical ways to prevent snoring. One type is by using a Nasal CPAP. It is very effective in controlling your snore but it is only temporary and does not cure the root cause of your problem. With such, the device is to be worn each night. If you find this to be of a bit of a hassle then this may not be for you.

Before your doctor advises you to wear such a device, as your way to prevent snoring, you will be evaluated as to the frequency of episodes of obstructed breathing while on your sleep, as to the noise disturbance your create during your sleep, as to the headaches you experience throughout the day, etc. You will undergo a physical exam, with your medical history taken into consideration. An otorhinolaryngological examination to check your airway will also be conducted. The last step of the evaluation involves checking and determining the appropriate CPAP pressure during a sleep study. All the data and information gathered will be used in determining the right treatment for your snoring problems.

Nasal Continuous Positive Airway Pressure (CPAP) makes use of specially designed nasal masks or pillows. It helps keeping your airway open while inhaling. It is an effective non-surgical remedy to prevent snoring and to treat obstructive sleep apnea problems. The mechanism blows air on the upper airway, just enough to prevent the airway tissues from obstructing your breathing during sleep. The pressure of this device is kept consistent, and continuous.

Once you have been finally advised to use CPAP by your doctor to prevent snoring, the next critical thing is choosing the mask for your use. Comfort should be a consideration. An alternative though is the use of nasal pillows where two small caps are inserted into the nostrils. Those with beard or moustache usually prefer this, as facial hair can compromise the effectiveness of said masks.

Dry skin also is an impediment to the function of the mask seal. The use of skin moisturizers made specifically for CPAP purposes will solve this problem. Take note as well that too much skin oil also is a problem as it loosens the contact between the mask and the face.

The use of CPAP to prevent snoring is a matter of choice. Your doctor can advise you well on this matter, and should this fit your comfort and convenience, choose a mask that you like. There are manufacturers who offer custom made masks with your comfort in mind. Never settle for anything less than what gives you comfort in the application of CPAP for your snoring problems.

Snorers, especially those with sleep apnea don?t get to have enough sleep. They usually feel tired during the day, with being able to have only some hours of sleep. You got to quit snoring!

Snoring will pose to be a problem not only for yourself but also to your partner in bed. She will not be able to have a decent sleep as well as you continue to snore her out of her sleeping zone. Snoring, in extreme cases, as it drains you with your energy, will start to cause you problems in bed. With the stress and anxiety brought about by your lack of sleep, your snoring will eventually get the better of you. Surely, you don?t want that to happen. How many times have you heard your partner say: ?Darling, can you quit snoring?? ? perhaps said in a lovely and jokingly way, but with some truth behind it.

It is important that you get yourself cured with this problem. Some snorers thought this would go away as time passes by. Some go with self-medication, and imposes upon themselves a healthier and active lifestyle. These can actually help you to quit snoring, with the right medication you may luckily pick out, or with the right lifestyle changes, and with the appropriate eating habits.

There are many products out there in the market claiming to make you quit snoring. But these claims should not be taken at face value, as not all products live up to their claims. Some claims are merely marketing strategies employed by manufacturers to sell their product. Make sure you know what are taking, and it always best before taking anything to consult your physician.

With a healthier lifestyle, you get to reduce your snoring. But what does living a healthier lifestyle mean? What foods do we have to eat to reduce or take away our snoring problems? How many hours of sleep do we need to maintain our state of good health? How much exercise is appropriate for our age and physical condition? What is the right exercise program one should consider taking up? Is it okay to take some alcohol, even just a bit? Are snacks right before sleep okay? These and more questions come to mind with the advise of a healthier and active lifestyle. Who can we look up to for answers?

Very simple ? your family doctor - with his knowledge on your physical status & condition, your previous medical cases & health issues, will be the right person to ask for answers. Simple as the phrase ?healthier and active lifestyle? may seem, but what is just right for you will matter as much.

Have an appointment with your doctor, and specify the details of your snoring problems, including the symptoms, your level of sleep, level of energy on most days, and all other circumstances that will prove to be of use for a proper evaluation of your case, and in determining your snoring treatment. Hopefully, after all these, you can finally quit snoring.

Effective Snoring and Sleep Apnea Treatments

There is a substantial difference in snoring and sleep apnea but, ironically, the treatments are much the same. It is first important to differentiate the two terms.

Snoring is nothing more than a vibration caused from fatty tissue rubbing against the back of the throat during sleep. It is often the cause of sleep loss, aggravation and inconvenience. Snoring alone, however, is not as dangerous as sleep apnea, which occurs when an individual stops breathing completely throughout the night. This is usually caused by a complete airway blockage resulting from tissue in the throat relaxing and cutting off the air supply. The sleep apnea sufferer awakens quickly due to their loss of air, but they may not realize what has happened. Frequent awakening, difficulty breathing or gasping for air and heavy snoring are all common signs of sleep apnea and may require an immediate need for effective snoring and sleep apnea treatments.

There are a variety of snoring and sleep apnea treatments, including changing to sleeping on your side instead of your back, maintaining a healthy diet and exercise program, ridding your home of allergens to help you breathe easier during the night, elevating your head with an extra pillow at night or the use of doctor recommended apnea treatment devices. Once a patient has been diagnosed with sleep apnea, a more aggressive series of snoring and sleep apnea treatments may be required. If left untreated, sleep apnea can lead to heart disease, a stroke or other serious medical condition. Many apnea sufferers use a Continuous Positive Airway Pressure (CPAP) machine to help them receive a continual amount of air during the night, which helps to prevent the tissues in their throat from collapsing and blocking their airway causing them to stop breathing completely.

During snoring and sleep apnea treatments, sleepers need to sleep with their mouth closed or they risk losing the effects of the CPAP treatment. The Sleep Genie is a product that is designed to help improve sleep quality and allow the sleeper to rest comfortably with their mouth closed. While not intended to be used as a cure for sleep apnea, it may help to keep the sufferers mouth closed so that they can continue to receive the benefits of the CPAP machine. If the patient suffers from snoring, and not sleep apnea, the Sleep Genie is beneficial in helping to prevent snoring altogether because it is virtually impossible to snore with your mouth closed.

Effective Home Remedies For Snoring

It begins at home and is only fitting that it is treated at home. There are a number of home remedies for snoring, which can allow you to take control of your nights and enjoy the quality of sleep that you deserve.

One of the most effective home remedies for snoring is to sleep on your side. If you always find yourself sleeping on your back, you may never guess that your sleeping position is directly linked to snoring. When you sleep on your back, the muscles and tissue are more likely to relax in the back of the throat, restrict your airway passage and cause snoring. In addition, sleeping on two pillows instead of one is among the popular home remedies for snoring. The additional elevation may help to keep your airways open.

If you suffer from allergies, try inhaling steam from hot running water before you go to bed. The heat may help to open up the nasal passages and improve breathing. The same is true if you are prone to sinus infections or have recently been diagnosed with a cold or the flu. One of the best home remedies for snoring is to simply improve the quality of air that you breathe. If your airways are restricted, snoring is much more likely. By ridding your home of allergens, you will increase air quality and enjoy the benefits of cleaner air. The presence of air filtration units in every room, especially the bedroom, is a good idea.

A majority of physicians will recommend trying a variety of home remedies for snoring before resorting to invasive surgery. After all avenues have been pursued without success, a doctor may consider a surgical procedure. In addition, if home remedies for snoring do not provide effective results, the sufferer may have sleep apnea. This is a serious condition which, if left untreated, may result in heart disease, an increased likelihood of a stroke or other medical problem. Sleep apnea occurs when the sufferer?s airway passages become completely blocked and they stop breathing completely on multiple occasions throughout the night. Home remedies for snoring are ideal if your snoring is just an inconvenience, but are not intended to cure sleep apnea.

This article is intended for informational purposes only. It should not be used as, or in place of, professional medical advice. Before beginning any treatment for snoring, please consult a doctor for a proper diagnosis and remedy.

Snoring- a Small Change Can Make a Big Difference

Click Here To Know The Symptoms, Causes & Effective Cures For Snoring

 by: Kevin Meates

We all know how annoying snoring can be, both for the snorer and the partner. The effects and seriousness of snoring are becoming more apparent with snoring being linked to conditions like high blood pressure and coronary disease. The different types of snoring, range from a simple puff to a full on roar and there isnt one school of thought on the reasons behind snoring. Snoring, I believe, is a signal that the bodys systems are out of balance. Finding which system is the difficult part. But correcting the balance may not take a huge change, take the example of Andy.

Andy was in his late 30s and had snored for several years. Hes not quite sure when it started but of late the snoring had being a more regular event. He probably still wouldnt be aware of it, except it drove his wife crazy. Andy had always being active, not a football star but he liked to throw a ball around. If you asked a passerby, they wouldnt describe Andy as overweight but Andy freely admits putting on a pound a year over the past 10 years and plans to start shedding some of it sometime soon.

Every year Andy and the family, his wife and two sons go camping. They always go to the same camping ground every year and always get the same site, or there about, near the water and away from the highway. Andy doesnt believe a holiday should be hard work and the family doesnt lack for comfort with inflatable mattresses, electric cooler, color TV (just for the news) and a large three room tent. Now last year the shower block at Andys end of the camp ground was under going a major renovation for the two weeks of Andys holiday. It wasnt a major problem; it just meant that Andy had his nightly shower at the other shower block. But because Andy and his wife preferred that the boys didnt have to walk in the dark they showered a couple hours earlier than normal.

After a couple of days after arriving Andys wife Karen noted that Andy wasnt snoring nearly as badly as he normally did. On past holidays even the boys would mention how annoying dads snoring was. They too had noticed a more quiet night. Andy was pleased as he too had noticed that he awoke more refreshed in the morning and his mouth didnt feel like someone had left sandpaper in it. He didnt know what change he had made that brought this unexpected and pleasant result, but he suspected it had to do with his nightly routine, as this was the only thing that had changed.

Over the next two weeks Andy experimented with his routine and finally came to the conclusion that if he brushed his teeth several hours before going to bed rather than just before retiring he didnt snore so much, if at all, and he woke in the morning without his mouth feeling all dry.

That simple change has made a big difference to Andy and Karen. Andy deduced that when he brushed his teeth just before retiring, the toothpaste was making him a little dehydrated. It was enough to dry out the nasal passages and cause him to breathe through his mouth making the snoring noise. By brushing earlier he didnt suffer the same dehydration and was able to breathe through his nose the whole night through. Now Andy also realized that toothpaste alone shouldnt be able to have such a major effect. It was that his body was very near the balance point and the toothpaste was the final small push over the edge. Andy decided he was to close to that fine balance point and began to look at his whole diet. He has made some small adjustments to his diet. He has lost a little weight, but thats a bonus and he only now snores if he over indulges and thats usually when he catches up with college buddies twice a year.

The chance of eliminating your snoring by changing when you brush your teeth is probably less than one in a thousand. Andys problem probably is your problem. The key is to find the system that is out of balance and work to set it right. You never know, you may only need the smallest of change. Is it worth the effort? You decide.
